Studio Lukas Cober
At Studio Lukas Cober, I assisted in producing furniture by cutting, assembling, shaping, sanding, and finishing the pieces. Working closely with Lukas, I gained a deep understanding of craftsmanship and authenticity.
I worked with various materials, including wood, resin, bronze, metal, and fiberglass. A key part of my experience was learning about the techniques used in surfboard manufacturing, particularly with resin and fiberglass. This technique was integral to creating the New Wave Collection, where I was involved in the entire process—from making resin fiberglass plates to cutting, gluing, shaping, and sanding the final items. I also gained hands-on experience in mixing resins for use in molds, infusions, gluing, and glazing the pieces.
Throughout my time at the studio, I mastered the shaping of pieces made from resin and wood. I refined my sanding skills and learned to finish pieces with waxes and oils, with each finish varying based on the material.
Additionally, I created 3D models of Lukas's objects. Given my solid grasp of his designs, he entrusted me with this task, which we later used for CNC laser techniques.
Overall, my time at Studio Lukas Cober provided me with valuable insights into form language and a better feel and understanding for materials, as well as the creative processes behind unique furniture pieces.
